Tamil Nadu government has now changed the name of the CM Breakfast Scheme to the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme. The Name of given in the name of the Former Chief Minister of the State, K. Kamaraj. Firstly, this scheme was introduced in September 2022 and launched by the previous state government of TN, i.e., the DMK Party. But now the newly elected CM Vijay also made a new announcement to expand this scheme in the state and also changed its Name. With the new change to the scheme, the scheme is going to cover all government and government-affiliated school students from classes 6th to 8th.

Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme
Many times, due to working parents, students come to school without breakfast. And in the middle of the study, they feel hungry and never focus on their studies. Government of Tamil Nadu started this scheme to provide a healthy breakfast to every students of school launched this school. In which on every working day of the school, every students get the Healthy breakfast at school. In September 2022, this scheme was first launched by the DMK Government in favour of students.
At the initial stage of this scheme, it covered only the students who are enrolled in classes 1st to 5th class which means a total of 19,34,230 students benefited. But now with the new changes made in this scheme, this scheme has expanded and is going to cover the students of all government and government aided school of class 6th to 8th.
After the expansion of this scheme all over the state, the government will need a budget of Rs.343.55 crore, and Rs.217.63 Crore already been sanctioned by the government for the 2026-27 Financial year. So this scheme is now officially going to be rolled out all over the state from 17th September 2026, which is the birth anniversary of Periyar E.V. Ramasamy.

Purpose of Tamil Nadu Breakfast Scheme
