Tamil Nadu My Home Scheme: 1 Lakh Housing Units to Be Developed Over the Next 7 Years

To provide safe and quality housing to the people of the state, Tamil Nadu, during its first budget session 2026-27, introduced the new scheme, i.e., the MY HOME Scheme. The complete Name of the MY HOME Scheme is Metropolitan Youth and Family Housing Scheme. By rolling out this scheme, the State Government of Tamil Nadu is going to built the one lakhs Houses in coming 7 years.  All the low-income group families of the state and Young people are the main beneficiaries who are a priority of the state government. The announcement of this Housing scheme was made by the Finance Minister, Marie Wilson, by releasing the white paper.

Tamil Nadu My Home Scheme

This Housing scheme is going to be implemented by the Government Department of the state, i.e. Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. In this scheme, the same board is going to develop one lakh houses in the coming 7 years. The total investment which is required for this scheme is about Rs.15,000 Crore.

There are also private investments, and government also doing the investment with combination. In this scheme, the government is also going to introduce the digital rental voucher system. By implementing this scheme, the government ensure about to provide the provision of safe and quality houses belonging to the LIG Category. The prices of the houses are suited to the income of the young people and LIG Families.

The short name of the Metropolitan Youth and Family Housing Scheme is MY -HOME Scheme.  This is also the pilot housing scheme of the Tamil Nadu government and was introduced by the Finance Minister of the state. The main motive to launch this One Lakh houses unit to the people is to provide safe and secure houses to their families. • Income certificate issued by the authority like Tehsildar, etc.
• If your young youth and employee, then submit your salary slip.

When will this scheme be officially launched?

On 5th August, during the budget session 2026-27, this scheme was introduced by the Government. But yet, there is no official launch date announced by the government, and there is no application submission or registration link available. Before the official announcement of this scheme, the government launched its official portal, and the government is working on its framework. So you have to wait for it.

What is Digital Rental Voucher Under MY HOME Scheme and Its Work?

In the above paragraph, we told you that under the HOME Scheme, the Tamil Nadu government issued the Digital Rental Voucher to the applicant. This voucher acts like the finance bridge between the Public Private Partnership Housing Unit, affordable for the beneficiaries. They are not giving direct subsidy or loan. By using this voucher, they calculate your income and match the cost of the house according to your income.

• First of all, applicants have to produce their income certificate or salary slip for EWS and LIG categories.
• Then the government calculate your eligibility according to income and then matches the Housing Cost with your income.
• Then, if you are approved for the scheme, you get the Digital Voucher, which is linked with your Aadhaar and Mobile Number. There is no paperwork required.

Which Metropolitan City of Tamil Nadu is selected under this scheme?

Till date, there is only Chennai Metropolitan City selected; there is no other city yet selected. So, in the first phase, the housing units are going to be built in Chennai city. Maybe after some time, the government will expand the scheme to cover other cities of the state.
