Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has released Rs 262 crore in financial support to the fishermen’s families. This amount will be given in the form of compensation to the fisherman’s family for not fishing during the fishing ban period. This financial support will be provided under the Matsyakara Sevalo Scheme. In their recent announcement, 1,30,796 fisherman families will get the benefit of this scheme. All types of marine fishing activities are suspended for 61 days during the breeding period of fish. This activity time interval starts from the 15th of April to the 14th of June 2026. During that period, no one is allowed to do fishing. Andhra Pradesh government also takes care of fishermen’s families and helps them financially with this scheme, so the family do not face any type of financial Crisis. Under the Matsyakara Sevalo Scheme, the Andhra Pradesh government provide Rs 20,000 financial support to each eligible family.

There is no middleman involved in this process, so beneficiaries will get the amount directly through DBT.
