Vetri 150 Scheme: Benefits, Eligibility and Requirements

Tamil Nadu government provide 25 days of additional work to vulnerable and needy households who have already completed their 125 days of work under VB-G RAM G. So, the benefit of 150 days of work will be provided to beneficiaries. It will put Rs 100 crore yearly extra burden on the government. The scheme is announced by Dr N. Marier Wilson, Minister of Finance, Planning and Development. This scheme will work under the Department of Rural Development and the Panchayati Raj Department.

We all know about the Central Government Rural Job Employment Scheme, i.e., the VB-G Ram G Scheme. This scheme is rolled out by the Government of India in the states of India. So under this scheme, guaranteed job employment for 125 Days will be given to the eligible people. But the Government of the Tamil Nadu State, under the TVK Party president and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, launched a sub-scheme under the VB-G Ram G Scheme, named the Vetri 150 Scheme.

This means the eligible citizen who is receiving the 125-day guaranteed employment under the VB-G RAM G scheme also gets an additional 25 days of work. So the government separately allocate 100 Crore rupees for this scheme as an annual budget to run this scheme smoothly in the state.

Vetri 150 Scheme

This is the new initiative launched by the government in their new budget 2026-27. A total of 100 Crore rupees is allocated for this scheme. This Vetri 150 Scheme is announced by the TVK Party in the state on August 25. Under this scheme, all citizens who already work under the Guarantee Rural Employment Scheme, i.e. VB-G RAM G scheme for 125 Days, are now also eligible to get 25 additional days for their employment. It means now every person who registered under the Rural Employment Scheme will get 150 days of Guaranteed employment.

What is VB-G RAM G Scheme?

So the full form of VB-G RAM G is Viksit Bharat Guarantee For Rozgaar and Ajeevika Mission. Firstly, this scheme was officially launched in 2005 with the name of MGNREGA. Now, after 21 years of implementing this scheme, the government changed its name to the VB-G RAM G Scheme. Under this scheme, people from rural areas will get guaranteed employment for 125 days in their local area. In the previous MGNREGA, the work was given for 100 days. So now, with the change of Name, the days of work also increase.

Why this Sub Scheme Vettri 150 Launch?

The central Government of India make in mandatory to implement the VB-G RAM G scheme in all the states. So the Government of Tamil Nadu implemented this scheme in the state, and they also launched their new sub scheme with this scheme. So that the people who working under the centre government scheme will get the 25 Days extra employment work days from the side of their own state government. The amount for these extra 25 days will also be given by the government to the beneficiaries.

Eligibility Criteria

So, to get the Benefits of the Vetri 150 Scheme, every citizen needs to qualify for these three steps:-

• First of all, Tamil Nadu citizen need to complete their baseline work, i.e. 125 Days in the Rural Employment Scheme.
• Then the officials check the Citizen who belongs to the economically weaker section or needy; then the extra work for an additional 25 days is given to them.
• The applicant is a permanent citizen of Tamil Nadu state but belongs to a rural area of the state.

Extra Work	With this scheme, households in the state will get an extra guarantee of 25 days of employment than the standard days of work, i.e. 215.
Enhanced Income	By getting the extra work days, the income can also be enhanced for the applicant. As the 25 days’ wages are directly given in cash to the individuals.
