Tamil Nadu Agam Housing Scheme For Sanitation Workers – Construct 2,500 Pucca Houses

Update: Sanitary Worker Union urge Greater Chennai Corporation to change the eligibility criteria of the Agam Housing Scheme. This is a housing scheme specially for sanitary workers in which they get Pukka Concrete houses. On 23rd September, the civic body initiated applications for temporary sanitary workers. The main eligibility that affects most people is that the applicant person should be registred in Tamil Nadu Cleaner Welfare Board for the last 5 year.

The union raised its concern that most sanitation workers got their identity card for TNCWB in 20222. So they are automatically out of this scheme due to the 5-year rule. The union requested the department to remove this 5-year eligibility criteria condition. The other eligibility is that applicants/workers do not have their own house, and their annual income should not be more than 3 lakh annually. If any worker gets a house under any other government scheme, then they are also not eligible for this scheme.

To provide concrete Houses to the Sanitation Workers of the State of Tamil Nadu, the government launched a new housing scheme for them. The same scheme is introduced under the name of the Tamil Nadu Agam Housing Scheme 2026. Under this scheme in all across the state of Tamil Nadu, the government is going to construct total 2,500 Concrete Houses for them. So that the living standard of the workers also increases and they can live in a safe environment with their families.

Tamil Nadu Agam Housing Scheme

On 27th August 2026, the Telangana State Government launched its new housing scheme for the Sanitation or Cleanliness workers of the state with the name of the Agam Housing Scheme. Under this scheme, the government is going to provide them permanent Concrete Houses. So any sanitation worker or cleanliness worker works near you and also need of Pucca house, then you must make awareness about this scheme.

Features of Housing Scheme For Sanitation Workers of Tamil Nadu

Beneficiaries Covered	In this scheme, the government cover the frontline cleanliness and sanitation workers of the state of Tamil Nadu who don’t have any kind of permanent house in the state

Eligibility Rules

Residency	Applicant must have permanent residency in Tamil Nadu state.
Occupation	Applicant must be working as a sanitation worker, Cleanliness worker, Sweeper, Drainage Cleaner and frontline sanitation staff of public health.
Housing Status	Only those people who don’t have any pucca house will get the housing facilities under this scheme.

Income proof	Also need to submit your income certificate

Tamil Nadu Agam Housing Scheme for Sanitation Workers Application Process

Yet, the government hasn’t made any announcement about applying online or offline for the Agam housing scheme in the state. Till date, this is just an announcement, and the government is at present finalising its framework, income criteria and selection process for the beneficiaries. But when the government start accepting the application form, then below are the expected steps.

• First of all, you have to download the Agam Housing Scheme official notification from the official portal or through the news agency.
• Then, according to the official notification, you have to check the eligibility Criteria and then prepare the documents in the name of the applicant.
• Then have to collect the application form and fill the same through online or offline as per the notification.
• Also submit the documents with the form and then submit.

Verification and Selection

• After obtaining the application form with documents from the applicant, the field officers of the concerned department conduct the site visit and complete the verification of the applicant’s homelessness.
• Then, after completing the verification, only approved beneficiaries will be able to get the 2,500 Pucca Houses in their name. If the selected beneficiaries are more than the number of houses, then, to maintain transparency, they conduct a draw.
