Tamil Nadu Free Bus Pass Scheme for Students, TVK continues old scheme

The previous State government of Tamil Nadu provided the free Bus Travel scheme to all the students of the state. Whether they are school-going or college-going students, all eligible students from schools and colleges are eligible to receive these free bus travel facilities to travel from their homes to their institutions. In this scheme, the free bus travel facilities are given through the state-run government transport.

Now, at present, the new state government is also going to continue this old scheme in the state. The information about this Tamil Nadu Free Bus Pass Scheme for Students is given by the Tamil Nadu Transport Minister, i.e. A Vijay Tamilan Parthiban. With this scheme, there are so many other welfare schemes that already exist in the state that are going to continue under the new state government.

Tamil Nadu Free Bus Pass Scheme For Students

CM Joseph Vijay recently made a new announcement about the previous government’s welfare scheme that they are going to continue the already existing welfare scheme in the state of Tamil Nadu, which was announced by the previous Government. So among them, the first scheme, which is continued by the new government, is the Free Bus Pass Scheme for School and College Students of Tamil Nadu State.

The colleges and schools which are eligible under this scheme are all Government arts and science colleges, Dental Colleges and Industrial Training Institutes of the State. These Free Bus Passes will be issued by the educational institute to its students for the new academic year 2026-27.

We all know that providing these free Bus Passes to the students takes time, so the government decided to provide free Travel in buses from their house to school at free of Cost if they wear their school uniform. And for college students, they need to show their ID card issued by their college or institute to avail free bus travel. CM also gives strict instructions to all bus drivers and conductors to stop the buses at the students’ stop and maintain their safety.

Eligibility for Students to Get Free Bus Passes

• All the students who are getting their studies from any government or government-aided schools in the Tamil Nadu state.
• For higher education, students enrolled themselves in all the Arts and Science government colleges, medical colleges, ITIs, etc.
• Students, with the help of these free bus passes, travel only from their residence to the institute.
• Tamil Nadu Free Bus Pass allow all the students to use all ordinary, express and deluxe buses.

NOTE: Students can use their pass at night for travel.

• You can use any of the ordinary, express or deluxe bus services using your student pass.
• The route must be from the students’ homes to their schools and colleges all across the state of Tamil Nadu.

Where and How to Apply for a Tamil Nadu Free Bus Pass For Students?

• First of all, eligible schools or institutions will get the application form from the head offices of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation.
• To get your Free Bus Travel pass, all students can apply through their institute, school or college.
• Eligible students need to collect the application form and complete the registration directly from their institute.
• Then the agency who issue these passes will visit schools, take the photo and issue the passes to students.
• Then, after getting the form from the students, the institute will be responsible for distributing the bus pass to students.
• From the date to apply and get the pass, it will take time, then in between that time, all the school students will be allowed to avail this free bus travel facility if they are in uniform, and college students need to show their ID Card.
• The application form to apply for the passes can be submitted between 15th June to 30th November.
