Telangana Auto Rickshaw Electric Conversion Scheme
Recently, the government of Telangana approved the new scheme with the name of Telangana Auto Rickshaw Electric Conversion Scheme. Under this scheme, they also approved Rs 200 Crore, in which the government will provide help to drivers to convert their petrol or diesel auto rickshaw into an electric vehicle in the CURE Area. Here, CURE stands for Core Urban Region Economy area.

In the scheme, the eligible beneficiaries, i.e. auto rickshaw drivers, will have to convert their existing old petrol or diesel auto rickshaw into an electric vehicle, or they can submit their old auto and then buy the new electric auto rickshaw. The total financial assistance which is given under this scheme is Rs.1.50 Lakhs for each of the vehicle.

Motive of scheme
The main motive to start this scheme in the state is only to reduce the pollution from the CUR Area of the state. Not only to reduce the pollution, but this scheme also helps to reduce the fuel cost burden of the drivers.
Financial Assistance in the Shape of Subsidy and Options available
So total subsidy in the shape of Financial assistance is given up to Rs.1.50 Lakhs for each vehicle. The vehicle owner has two options to get the benefits of the scheme as given below.
- Conversion of Existing Auto Rickshaw in E Rickshaw
So the driver can choose the option to convert their old petrol or diesel auto rickshaw in to Electric Vehicle by getting the AIS-123 Certified Electric Kit, and the same kits can be installed by the empanelled vendors. At the time of the selection, you need to choose the Fixed Battery or Swappable Battery setup in your vehicle. All the Cost will be covered in the subsidy, and the cost and installation of the kit is also about Rs.1.50 Lakhs.
- Buy New Electric Auto – Rickshaw
You can also choose this 2nd option, in which you all get the option to surrender your old vehicle and then buy the new e-rickshaw for you. You have to submit your old auto rickshaw and then get the brand new electric three-wheeler. After that, you all can get the subsidy amount, which is up to Rs.1.50 Lakhs.

How to Apply For Auto Rickshaw Electric Conversion Scheme?
- First of all, you need to visit the online portal of the Transport Department of the state to complete the online registration.
- After completing the registration, you need to login in to the portal using your vehicle registration number and Aadhaar Card.
- The system of the portal automatically checks the status of the vehicle, whether it is approved for the scheme with a valid permit.
- Then start selecting your community, and the application form will open here.
- Now, here you have to choose the option given here; you need to click on the Conversion option.
- Then have to select the vendor empanelled with the link and also AIS-123 Electric Kits.
- Either you can choose the option to buy the new E Auto
- Select the factory approved with the scheme from an empanelled dealer.
- Then the subsidy amount of Rs.1.5 Lakhs is directly given to the dealer or manufacturer empanelled with the scheme.
