Thayumanavar Scheme
Before launching this scheme, there were many people in the state of Tamil Nadu, like Senior Citizen, old-age people, and people with physical disabilities are unable to walk and get their ration from the fair price shop. Not only these people, but also the kids who are small and living with the elderly, are not able to visit the fair price shop. The poor people of the state have to go to work daily, so they also don’t get the time to visit the Ration Depot and collect their Ration. That’s why the previous government, i.e., the DMK Government, implemented this scheme, and now the new TVK Government is expanding the scheme for more people.
This scheme distributes the ration items on every 2nd Saturday and Sunday of every month. And the same ration is directly delivered to the eligible people’s homes through PDS vehicles.
At the time of launching, more than 20 lakh senior citizens and persons with disabilities received the Ration supply at their doorsteps. But now the government wants to add more people to this scheme and has reduced the age eligibility from 70 years to 60 years. Motive to Launch the Thayumanavar Scheme

What is the Thayumanavar scheme?
- This scheme was first launched on 12th August 2025 by the DMK Party.
